Greg Rogers’ family first settled in Tega Cay in the early 1980’s.
A graduate of Fort Mill High School, he stayed local to attend Winthrop University were he earned a degree in Political Science.
As a student at Winthrop University, Greg’s natural leadership was recognized by his peers when he was elected to the Chapter Presidency of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha. While successfully growing the organization, Greg demonstrated the importance of never accepting “just good enough” as success. It was another example of fulfilling his early life lesson to “strive for more”.
Upon finishing school, Greg went to work for Fastenal Industrial Supply and had the chance to work in outside sales, calling on small business owners and manufacturing companies around York County. Through this experience, Greg learned first hand how to work with businesses to assess goals and meet their needs. It was here that his desire to bring value to the business community was sparked. He eventually worked his way into a General Management position, working with sales staff and handling retail operations.
Building on the values he learned at Fastenal, and continuing to “strive for more”, Greg turned to his entrepreneurial side and has built a business in economic development. He has worked with developers and business owners to fulfill their financial and sales needs while working to bring funding to major projects both locally and across the country. In so doing, he has become intimately aware of the needs of business to succeed and how government can both help and hurt the success of business and community. That awareness, coupled with a desire to serve, has led Greg to seek a seat on the Tega Cay City Council.
Greg knows that a citizen truly concerned about his community will strive to make a meaningful impact to better his community. In addition to remaining active with the Pi Kappa Alpha Alumni Association as it’s greater Charlotte area President, Greg has donated his time and talents to a variety of organizations throughout our area. He was proud to found the Fort Mill Jaycees and has served as its chairman. He is also active with the Fort Mill Elks Lodge, and the York County Boys and Girls Club. Greg took an early step into government service with his 2009 appointment to the York County Economic Development Board, to which he was unanimously approved by the County Council. He wanted to learn more about the efforts of our local safety providers by joining the Tega Cay Public Safety Committee.
Greg believes in the people of Tega Cay and together with them will continue his desire to “strive for more”…for himself, his family, and his community.
Greg currently lives on Fahleh Cove with his wife Rebecca. They are members of Tega Cay Baptist Church.
